Release on Itch.io

Greetings flock!

We are thrilled to share the first playable version of The Golden Caravan Heist, a rogue-lite game where strategy and luck intertwine.

We’ve been working hard on developing this high-stakes adventure, and we’re excited to get your feedback on this early playable before we continue working on the rest of the game’s features.

Game Premise

When your grandfather, a revered locksmith, is kidnapped by the ruthless gangster known as The Great Owl, it's up to you to infiltrate the infamous Golden Caravan casino and rescue him.

Battle your way through its treacherous floors, face cunning foes in intense poker-themed confrontations, and uncover the dark secrets behind the city's oppression.

Can you outwit The Great Owl, rescue your grandfather, and restore justice to your city?

Current Development Stage

At this stage, we have focused on developing the core combat mechanic. The playable version available now includes:

  • The main combat system with poker-themed confrontations.
  • Basic enemy AI and initial combat balance.
  • Early game graphics and UI elements.
  • A very basic progression of enemies to beat.

The combat in The Golden Caravan Heist is a unique blend of strategy and chance, inspired by the popular game Swords & Poker. Each encounter requires you to outwit your opponents using a deck of cards, combining luck and skill to emerge victorious.

Each turn, you draw cards and strategically place them to form poker hands, such as pairs, straights, or flushes. These hands then deal damage to your foes, with stronger hands delivering more powerful attacks. The challenge lies in predicting your opponent’s moves, managing your hand effectively, and using various skills to your advantage.

This combat system not only tests your strategic thinking but also adds an element of unpredictability, ensuring that no two encounters are the same. As you progress through the game, you’ll encounter tougher opponents with their own unique strategies, making each victory feel hard-earned and rewarding.

Next Steps

Now that we have the core battle mechanic in place, we want to move on a create a vertical slice to show the full potential that we see for this game. This includes:

  • Basic exploration mechanics, tied with the lore of the game
  • Introducing the narrative and character dialogs
  • Roguelite elements
    • Unlock weapons
    • Use active skills
    • And a lot more!

Also, based on your feedback, we will be refining the combat mechanics and addressing any issues.  Any comment or suggestion is greatly appreciated, to make this game a reality!

Stay tuned for future updates!
